BUMAX produces two different types of pins for FlexLink that are used in four different FlexLink chain types – a large pin 2 cm long and a shorter version. The pins securely link together the small plastic parts that make up a FlexLink conveyor belt.
BUMAX has been a proud supplier to Flexlink for more than 25 years, since the development of the company’s first conveyor belt back in 1997.
Ensuring no weak link in the chain
“A conveyor belt is only as strong as what could be the weakest link in the chain – if one link breaks, then the whole conveyor can fail,” explains Anders Ingvarsson, Senior Product Manager at FlexLink. “This is why obtaining high-quality pins is essential to the reliability of our products. There is simply no room for a potentially weak link.”
For this reason, both high strength and consistent quality across batches of pins is essential.
“We need to be able to guarantee a customer that our conveyor belts can take a certain load or particular number of their products,” says Ingvarsson. “BUMAX pins enable us to do just that. As far as I know, we’ve never had any issues with using BUMAX bolts in our chains.”
High-strength pins increase conveyor length
The strength is also important as it determines the possible length of the chain for a particular customer. The longer the conveyor belt, the greater the chain pull, which is where high-strength BUMAX pins are particularly important.
“We need pins we can rely on with consistent quality, reliable delivery and at reasonable cost,” concludes Ingvarsson. “BUMAX fulfills all three of these requirements. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with BUMAX.”
