BUMAX® NITRO 109 is a nitrogen-strengthened austenitic stainless steel that offers superior marine corrosion resistance for large size bolts in strength class 10.9.

 

Superior corrosion resistance for high-strength large-diameter bolting

The stainless steel grade is the optimal solution for large-diameter high-strength bolting applications in the marine and offshore markets, and other applications that require large fasteners with excellent corrosion resistance and high-strength properties. BUMAX® NITRO 109 provides a strength class equivalent to 10.9 at large diameters up to M36 and even strength class 100 in M42 diameters.

These enhanced properties are achieved through nitrogen addition, which is an effective way of strengthening austenitic stainless steels while maintaining material properties. Additionally, our unique manufacturing processes and the fact we source the highest quality European raw material, optimize the grade’s properties. All our products offer full traceability with 3.1 certificates on request.

BUMAX® NITRO 109 can potentially replace more expensive nickel-based alloy fasteners, which are a common option for marine environment resistant stainless steel fastening solution for large size bolts in higher strengths.
