Hi Jacob, how did you come to work at BUMAX?

I had worked as a Global Account Manager at Bufab – the parent company of BUMAX – since 2017 and had already worked on some BUMAX projects. The huge market potential of BUMAX around the world and the strong BUMAX brand together with the opportunity to develop new markets and distributor network caught my interest and I jumped at the chance to work for BUMAX full time when the opportunity came about.

Tell us about your role at BUMAX.

My current focus is on developing opportunities and relationships with distributors all around the world. We have recently appointed new master distributors in the US and Canada, which together serve around 3,500 fastener distributors across North America.

How many direct distributors does BUMAX have globally?

Through our almost 100 direct distributors globally, we ensure that BUMAX products are available in about 70 countries. Many distributors outside of Europe maintain their own stock of BUMAX products to ensure short lead times for their customers. In addition, we have “internal distributors” that are part of the Bufab Group that we are further developing relationships with.

Tell us about your time working with Bufab accounts?

I was a Global Account Manager for some of Bufab’s strategic customers. This involved finding and developing new potential strategic customers.

What are your thoughts on the market opportunities for BUMAX?

Sustainability is a hot trend – particularly in Europe – that is driving the demand for stainless steel fasteners. Stainless steel’s ability to be recycled without a loss of quality aligns it with circular economy objectives, and growing regulatory and consumer pressure to adopt more sustainable materials makes it attractive in various industries. As the only stainless steel fastener company able to provide Environmental Performance Declarations (EPDs), we have a clear sustainability advantage in the market.

What do you like about your job?

I enjoy working with the strong BUMAX brand, our great products, high-quality Swedish production facility, technical knowledge and global market presence.

What are your future career aspirations at BUMAX?

I see my role developing into a more strategic role where we work even more closely with our business development and sales teams. This will involve looking further ahead and working toward our long-term objectives.

What do you like to do in your free time?

As I spend a lot of my time travelling, I prioritize spending my free time with my family. I enjoy sports, running and working out in the gym as well skiing.
