Elina Leivo, Nordic Business Development Manager at BUMAX has provided interactive lectures to engineering students since 2021 through close collaboration with the universities.
Getting interactive and hands on at Metropolia University of Applied Sciences
At the Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, Elina provides an annual voluntary lecture that typically attracts between 50 and 60 students, which is more than half the mechanical engineering second year students at the university. She invites the students to ask questions and always brings BUMAX fasteners to allow them to look at them firsthand.
“The annual lectures with Elina are a great opportunity for our students to dive deeper into screws, nuts and material grades while inspiring them to go beyond our course content,” says Janne Nuotio, Senior Lecturer at the Metropolia University of Applied Sciences. “Our students value this kind of real-world insight to complement their studies.”
“We really appreciate our long-term partnerships with industrial companies such as BUMAX,” says Pekka Salonen, Senior Lecturer at the Metropolia University of Applied Sciences. “They are a real win-win collaboration with opportunities for projects, theses and even potential recruitment.”
BUMAX connects with the engineers of the future
“These lectures are only a small part of my role as a Business Development Manager at BUMAX, but I find them hugely rewarding as they are a great way to give engineering students knowledge of BUMAX and the very latest fastener solutions for demanding applications in various industries,” says Leivo. “The lectures are really appreciated by the students and some often stay afterwards to ask questions and discuss their coursework.”
The lectures are also a great way for BUMAX to connect with the engineers of the future, with some of the students destined to make future engineering decisions in various industries.
“It’s so important that young engineers know about the very latest solutions that are available to solve the fastener challenges they may encounter during their career,” explains Leivo. “I’m grateful to be able to share my knowledge on material science and fasteners with them!”
BUMAX is currently planning more lectures at other leading universities in Finland. Reach out to Elina Leivo or your nearest BUMAX contact for more details.
